I'm Back! (Or at least I'm on my way...)

Hey all - for the first time in 14 days I am starting to feel like me again!

Yay!

I'm off the sleepy-happy pills - which is good. As much fun as it was to love everyone, there were things that I missed...
Like staying awake.
Being able to drive a car, so that I wasn't dependent upon other people for every little thing.
Like staying awake... (or did I already say that one?)

So that's the good news.

The bad news - turns out that my nasty viral inner ear infection was indeed contagious. And Bubba's got it now. Just call me Typhoid Mary. And I feel guilty, guilty, guilty - since I now know just how much labyrinthitis sucks. (Just thought I'd throw in the technical term, just for funsies...)
I am more than ready for the dizziness to leave the building....

Even though I'm off the dreamy meds, I still feel a little off kilter. It's like the last 7 days didn't happen. I mean, obviously they did for everyone else, but it was like being in a state of suspended animation or something. Nothing got done around the house. Not. One. Single. Thing.
YIKES!

Also - I've not checked email, or read a blog, or anything in that long either... I plan on rectifying that today. I see that I've got a bulging email in-box, which I suspect is full of sweet thoughts (thank you!) and spam (no, thank you...)
I can't wait to get caught up on what y'all are up to, as well. I've missed everyone (if that makes any sense at all? To miss a friend you've not necessarily had a chance to meet yet???)

In addition to needing to get caught up around the house (oh! the laundry! I think the poor Scheckster has been wearing the same bathing suit - around the clock - for the last 5 days. Got to love summer...) and wanting to get caught up with all my lovely, lovely blog friends, I am itchy to do something crafty. It's been a long time since I actually made anything... A really, really, really long ass time... I think I'll use that as the "carrot at the end of the stick" for getting some of the stuff that needs to get tackled, tackled...

Oh - and look what Publix started carrying!!! Bubba found these for me, before I gave him the ear plague... (I really need to work on my "thank yous")

You know how I love them so... And the Minis may be my favorite yet - they are practically perfect in every way...

Bug. Ugh.*

Those of you with children, you know how it is: you spend the first half dozen years of your child's life trying to teach him/her to share.

"Sharing is good," we say. "Sharing is caring," the little ones are taught (although, that one he learned that at preschool, not from me!)

If I had a time machine, and could go back and do it all again, I'd still teach Schecky all about sharing. Except this time, I'd remember to add a codacil:

You don't have to share your icky tummy bug.

Ah well. Too late for that lesson. Share he did. And no amount of compulsive hand-washing and sanitizing every surface with which he came in contact could save me...

Scheckster bounced back quickly, as young 'uns do. Thanks to all the "feel better" wishes that you all sent his way. I do love some good karma...

I didn't have it as severely as he did, but I've been dragging for days.

And for some reason, as I was in the process of slowly bouncing back, I decided that it was time to restart the Great Decluttering Project of 2007 by tackling the kitchen. The less said about the horrors of my cabinets, the better. Let's just say that I've lived here for 14 years, and I don't think I've ever emptied out the cabinets and gone through them. Did I already say "the horror"???
And I'm not brave enough to document them, not even for "Get Real Monday." I want no proof of how icky things were. I'm going to pretend like it never happened....

Between care-giving, and dragging around, and tackling the cabinets - it's not left much time for going through vacation photos. I did get them downloaded though - and I think I may have figured out where this "bug" came from in the first place...

Who in the World???

Schecky and the Bug
Ack! It's Got Schecky!

Oh, Well.... *That's* Just Asking For Trouble...
Should have known this wasn't going to end happily...

*Technically, I suppose this should be "Bugs. Ugh." But I'm obviously willing to sacrifice grammar for a silly rhyme.

Life Is What Happens While You're Making Other Plans...

Ah yes...

We had a lovely Spring Break tour of South Georgia - we hit Pine Mountain*, lovely and scenic Valdosta (read that with a little bit of sarcasm - just the teeniest bit) and the truly lovely and scenic Savannah (no sarcasm there...).

All stops were thoroughly enjoyed - although the homecoming was made somewhat rough by the COLD!
Yikes, people, what happened??

Anyhow - today was meant to be a day of shepherding Schecky back to school, then spending a pleasant morning downloading all the vacation pictures and going through them. Also answering emails, reading blogs, etc.

Note the ominous use of the word "was".

That was the plan.

Until the projectile vomiting started early this morning.

Poor Schecky is a sick lil pup - so there will be no return to school today. The new and revised game plan calls for Sprite, Pedialyte, and snuggling when called for.
(And lots and lots and lots of hand-washing for me - I love the boy, but I can already tell that I do not want what he's got!)

So the pictures, etc. will have to wait until another day.

In the meantime - let me leave you with this little random nibbly bit to mull over:

According to Google, I am the #12 search result for Kingsport Dominatrix.

Woo Hoo - how proud does this make me? I mean, that puts me just a few slots below Bettie Page**, who first appears in the #3 position.

I've just got to wonder, though... exactly who is searching for this? Sometimes you've just got to cock your head to the side and go "hmmmm".

*Ironically, perhaps the only place in the whole state that has even more pollen than the Atlanta area!

**She may, or may not, be from Kingsport. Accounts vary wildly...

Hello... My Name Is Crazy

I'm trying to stop whining about how cold I am all the time. I know that other people have it far, far colder.
(Like poor Jen and MéLisa! I shivered just reading these...)

And I'm tired of griping about this horribleness that has settled into my sinuses, and shows no sign of going anywhere. I'm not the only girl with the plague, I know that.
(although, it's really difficult to stick to my "quit whining" resolution when the horribleness has settled right on top of my gums, and is giving me a toothache of epic proportions...)

And I've not really talked about how sick the little Scheckster has been lately. There are a lot of sick lil 'uns about, so it's not really worthy of reporting. He headed back to school today, box of Kleenex in this little backpack... He looked kind of small, and definitely snuffly.

However, all these things - even if I'm not really talking about them - have melded together with the bazillionth overcast day in a row and are responsible for a little touch of Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Bah.

I'm trying to beat it.

I'm in a weird sort of way today. More so than usual, even.

This has been building for a bit.
Seems like I've got all these things that I want/need to do, and I keep adding to the list - without ever getting anything knocked off. And, combined with all the stuff from the blathering above - I just find myself slightly off kilter. Not myself.

This morning, for example, I decided to stop and get breakfast out.
(Nothing like self medicating with carbs in the form of a delicious bagel...)

When the bagel guy asked for my name, I replied with a straight face "Buffy".

Wha...???
I have no idea where that came from. I'm not really the "give a fake name" type.
I must be delirious....

Back at home, I decided that today called for Pretty in Pink - the soundtrack has been playing all morning. I'm enjoying it, but it's not having the desired effect, somehow. Which is unusual, it's typically a sure-fire cure-all...

I keep eyeing the tiara - maybe that will restore order to the universe??? But I don't want...

Wait - stop the presses. As I was typing, I was interrupted by the doorbell. (sigh.)

The mailman. (hmmm.)

With a package. (hmmmm?)

For me. (yipee!)

OK - I'm not quite sure where I was going with the above train of thought, I'm sure it was just going to be documenting more weirdness. Let's interrupt that, because this is totally better...

Valentine's Pouch

How timely was this??? A fantastically thoughtful and adorable pouch from Beki! And she threw in some conversation hearts, too! This may just be what the doctor would have ordered...

I'm smiling.

Beki, thank you so much for the much appreciated lift today. I hope you get some idea of how much joy this brought me...
(and I suspect that all the other readers of BFC are thanking you, too.
Because whereas you didn't make the weirdness stop; you got me to stop writing about it!)

Just a Short Note...

Very shortly after posting Monday's "100 Things" list, I went to sleep.
But did you notice that I stayed up late to post it? Me, the early-to-bed-girl!

Very shortly after waking, I went to preschool, where I was subbing for the day.
I do love to get my "toddler-fix"...

Very, very shortly after leaving preschool, I got hit hard by some sort of horrible achy/fevery/sore-throaty/copious-amounts-of-green-stuff thing.*

And so I went back to bed. Where I proceeded to remain all day Tuesday.
Well, that's not wholly accurate - I did move my base of operations to the couch, so I could watch copious amounts of television. Lots and lots and lots of television...

Which is just a long, and roundabout way of explaining why it's been quiet silent over here for the past 48 hours...

Which was not my intent - I want to thank each and everyone of you for all the lovely lovely Blogiversary comments that you left.
It makes me want to have a blogiversary every week or so!

I didn't want anyone to think that I was hoarding all the good comments without a "thank you" in sight...
Because I am very very grateful for all the love.
Thank you, each and every one.

So - if I've got an email address for you, you'll be hearing from me soon.
Once I get my sad germy behind off the couch.
Where I am about to park it again...

**

*And just so you know, I do realize that there is no logical or rational way to blame my getting sick on the preschoolers. I mean, I was symptomatic within about 90 minutes of leaving that place. I don't even think the Hanta virus incubates that quickly!

However, I do also know that I'm not setting foot back in that place without freebasing a whole bunch of Airborne first!

**I typed some "x"s and "o"s right there - but then deleted them. No one wants me loving on them right now....

I thought...

...that perhaps I had more to say: more pictures to share, more musings to muse upon before I took a break for the holidays..

I was wrong.

I'm currently nursing a terrible case of something* -
ugh, my head! my nose! my ears! (I hate, Hate, HATE it when head colds get all stuck in your ears...) - and so I think I am going to say my "I'm taking a short break" farewell right now...

No matter which holidays you and your family celebrate - I wish you all a very Merry Everything and a Happy Always!

And Capello? Did you somehow do this to me?
