Guess Who Went to the Optometrist Today?

And that's about *all* that happened today.

I had an appointment first thing this morning, and the doctor dilated my eyes. And - boom! - that was pretty much all she wrote for the rest of *my* day...

Unless you count walking around looking like an anime character, or the subject of a Margaret Keane painting - because I did a lot of that...

That would be me...

I got home from my appointment, and realized I couldn't read, or knit, or even see the computer screen. Also, the sun was just killing me...
I spent the entire time that Scheck was in school sitting in a darkened living room, listening to trashy television.

I kind of hate myself, because in spite of protesting that I would never watch that "Who Wants to be the Next PussyCat Doll" show... please don't make me finish that sentence. I'm too ashamed...

Picked Schecky up from school, and had to tell him that we couldn't go to the park, despite it being a gorgeous 70°, because Mommy was a vampire and the sun was killing her.

Instead, we went to the soothingly dark Lizards and Snakes exhibit at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Where Schecky tirelessly read me all the signs by the exhibits. He's a good egg, that boy is. I may have to go back with my camera to take some pictures, because lizards and snakes are way cool...

Eight hours later, I am just now starting to be able to see small print, etc. again. And my pupils have gone down slightly. But only slightly. I can't decide if they changed the stuff that they put in your eye, or if I'm just getting old. But I don't ever remember this ever being this big of an inconvenience in the past!

Everytime I get my eyes dilated by the optometrist, I get a horrible migraine. Like capello, I think I am going to avoid having it done. Maybe you could ask them not to dilate them next time?

Ooh, that is kinda freaky looking. But probably not nearly as freaky as it feels!! My son complains bitterly when they do that to him at the eye dr, so I know it can't be fun. Last time my husband went, his eyes were like that for so long that we actually called the dr to see if something was wrong. He wasn't happy.

Due to a health condition, I have my eyes dilated every year, for the last 20 years! I still hate it, but have learned to deal. Next time, ask if you can have the reversing drops. Some docs use them, some don't.

The doctor didn't give you those sexy sunglasses to wear? You would have looked so cute at the park wearing them.
I've had my eyes dialated once. It was years ago and I remember asking if I was going to be able to watch ER. I was.

EEEEEKKKK! There is a huge eye looking at me! Strangly pretty though, are your eyes green??

I can't believe that you admitted to watching that smut! (we don't get that channel so can't even be tempted, thank goodness!)

for some reason when i stopped seeing an eye "specialist" at the age of 19..the same little jewish man who did all of my eye surgeries, they stopped dialating my eyes every exam. Which was nice cause you feel like such a reject not being able to say dial a phone or drive.

that picture of your eye is freaking me out tho.

i cannot fogrgive the CW for placing that insipid crap shoot of a show in the place of my beloved veronica mars!
