And the Sky Looked Like Something Out of "Gone With the Wind"....

Orange Sky Over Atlanta, originally uploaded by lla.

A very strange, very Technicolor sight met my eyes this morning - an orange sky.

I found myself standing on the front porch, gawping at it - simply because it looked so very, very wrong.

My first thought was "How cool is this?"

My second thought was "Glad I don't live in a trailer park."
Because in my mind, I always imagine that the sky turns these crazy Crayola colors right before a tornado.

It actually started out a weird purple color, almost as if the sky were bruised. It quickly turned to orange - and stayed this way just long enough for me to snap a few pictures. By the time I got the Scheckster to school, it was over and done. The sky was a steely grey color.

But it sure was interesting while it lasted...

These were all taken from my front porch this morning, at about 7:30. No color-correction, nor any sort of PhotoShop tomfoolery has taken place...

Trust someone who grew up with tornadoes: the pre-twister sky is always sickly green, not orange. :)

weird colors! It looks a lot like our sky today (but then the whole of So.Cal. is on fire, giving us smokey orange skies).

Pretty and spooky at the same time.

We had the same thing here in Colorado many years back and it really is surreal, isn't it?

It felt like the Apocalypse or maybe like being on another planet.

Pictures are great, but they can't convey the true weirdness of it. Although, yours are gorgeous.

our SunSET last night was like that... To the west there were at least 7 different shades of orange rainbowing up. I'd never seen anything like it... Then, to the east it was pastel versions of every color imaginable. I'd never seen anything like it and cursed the fact that we were in the car without a camera!

Weird! And cool! It is eerie when the sky does something like that. We had a funky colored sky last night around suset. I glanced out the window and everything was just glowing this strange orange-y hue. I should have taken pics but I was somewhat crazed trying to get dinner on the table for 6 farmers!

Wow -- Mother Nature providing Halloween Art just for you guys! We've had some BEAUTIFUL sunsets and sunrises here in Indiana in the last month or so -- lots of orange and pink.

Wow that is pretty cool! The sky was actually really fascinating here last night, but unfortunately I was out and didn't have my camera. I was definitely kicking myself about that one:)
